WHAT IS LE TOURMENT VERT? An authentic, traditional handcrafted French absinthe.
WHERE IS IT MADE? At Distillerie Vinet Ege, located near Cognac City in France.
WHAT’S THE DISTILLERY’S HISTORY? Distillerie Vinet Ege is a small family owned craft distillery in operation since 1934. It specializes in high quality, handcrafted limited quantity products including fine cognacs such as Remy Martin XO. The Distillerie is owned by Bruno Delannoy and his wife Annie.
INGREDIENTS (as found in all traditional absinthes) Holy Trinity: Anise, Fennel & Grand Wormwood (Artmisia Absinthium). Plus, it contains aromatic herbs including Sage, Rosemary and Coriander.
DOES IT CONTAIN THUJONE (THE ACTIVE INGREDIENT IN WORMWOOD)? Yes, the maximum dosage of thujone currently allowed by the United States Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB).
ABSINTHE HISTORY: Originally developed as a medical elixir and digestive. Used by French troops in 1840’s as a cure for malaria. Became popular in Parisian café society, especially with artists and writers including Van Gogh, Monet, Oscar Wilde and Ernest Hemingway. Banned in the US in 1912 and in France in 1915; but recently legalized again in US and other countries.
